Launching our new digital drop-in service

We recently attended an event at Boorley Green Community Centre event to promote our tenancy support services and launch our new digital drop-in sessions through VIVID Plus at the centre.

Having internet access is crucial, especially with so many services moving online, but it can be difficult without devices, data, or knowledge. We have a dedicated member of staff who supports customers accessing the internet, using their device, or using our online services. We now hold digital drop-in sessions at various locations to make this service more accessible.

At Boorley Green Community Centre, the new digital drop-in will be on the last Monday morning of each month. It’s a chance to ask any questions, get some help or have just have a chat. Wendy, our amazing digital inclusion officer will be happy to help! Locations and times of our different drop-in sessions are:

  • Boorley Green Community Centre, Botley, 9.30-11.30am, the last Monday of every month
  • The Pavilion On The Park, Eastleigh, 12.30-3pm, the last Monday of every month
  • Velmore Community Centre, Chandlers Ford, 10-11.30am, the first Wednesday of every month

The event was also attended by local organisations, providing local residents with a chance to talk, learn about ongoing initiatives and discover available support.

In addition to digital inclusion, we offer our customers employment and training support and money and benefits advice, areas where internet access is becoming increasingly essential.

Derek Streek, Head of Communities, Standards and Partnerships at VIVID said “Preventing customers being excluded from digital technologies and the opportunities these bring is one of our objectives in our community investment strategy. Through our charitable arm VIVID Plus, we’re helping our customers get online and stay connected. Our new digital drop-in sessions are just one example of the ways we are working to support our local communities.”.

Councillor Dave Kinloch said “It was wonderful to visit the community information event and digital drop-in launch at Boorley Green today. This is a great example of the Parish Council and VIVID partnering together to support the community. I’m really impressed with all the work VIVID is doing to promote digital inclusion and help people get online”.
