For Jack, home is more than four walls and a roof. It's a place where he can be himself, feel comfortable and enjoy the independence that many people take for granted.
Jack has lived in his VIVID home with his mum for nearly eight years. Over that time, a number of adaptations, including automatic doors, a stairlift and a height-adjustable kitchen unit, have transformed the way he uses his home.
"I can actually make use of the kitchen. I can get myself upstairs. I can move about in my own home," he says.
While the adaptations themselves have made everyday tasks easier, it's the freedom they provide that has had the biggest impact. Being able to move around the house independently, prepare food and access different spaces gives Jack greater control over daily life.
Home is also where he can switch off from the outside world.
"After a long day, you can come in and feel like your space is your space," says Jack. "It doesn't matter what's going on around you. Your home is your space."
The experience has reinforced something he feels strongly about: everyone deserves a home that works for them.
"Everyone should always deserve a good place to live. It doesn't matter what's happened to you or what your circumstances are."
For Jack, having the right support in place has meant more than practical changes to his home. It's helped create a space where he feels independent, comfortable and able to live life on his own terms.
And perhaps that's the simplest way to describe what home means to him:
"Your home is your space."
