Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected in their home and neighbourhood, and we understand sometimes anti-social behaviour (ASB) can get in the way of that.
This year ASB Awareness Week is taking place between Monday 29 June and Sunday 5 July, and we’re hosting events throughout the week to support you in reporting and preventing. We’ll be attending a roadshow in Farnham, speaking at webinars and doing a door knock in Aldershot to understand the impact of ASB on you. Keep an eye on our social media for more information on how you can speak to the team.
One of our customer promises is that we listen carefully to issues, do what we say, resolve fully and learn. But we’re also not just here when issues arise - we want to help our customers always feel confident, safe and supported.
What is ASB?
It’s easy to think of the big things, but really, it’s about everyday challenges between people. Whether it’s a misunderstanding between neighbours, or people going through difficult times, we’re often supporting both sides as our customers, and both sides have support needs.
ASB is generally long-running actions causing distress, such as verbal abuse, harassment, or any criminal activities. Not everything falls into these categories, but we can always advise on what we can and can’t do for you.
We know these cases can have a real impact on your mental and physical wellbeing, as well as your sense of security in your home and neighbourhood. That’s why we treat every case with professionalism and empathy.
When it is necessary to protect our customers and communities, we’ll involve the police and pursue legal action, but this is never a first step.
The power of early support
The best way to solve it is to act early. Issues can grow and acting early means we can stop things getting worse. In many situations it can be solved without any formal action. Often all we need to do is create a space for calm constructive conversations to help people understand each other’s point of view. We know that behind every report on both sides is a person, a home and a different point of view.
Working together to make a difference
We’re here to support you when you need it and to adapt wherever we can. If something is outside what we can offer, we’ll help connect you with organisations that can provide the right support. This is especially important when it comes to ASB. We work with groups including:
Sometimes the right support makes all the difference, especially when someone just needs help finding it. We also provide free mediation and victim support services for our customers, whenever they’re needed.
What does success look like?
Success isn’t about legal action. It’s about helping neighbours get back on track, supporting people when things feel difficult, and making sure they can access the right help at the right time. Above all, it’s about creating communities where people feel comfortable, respected and valued.
It’s not about evictions either. These are always a last resort. For us, success is about helping people feel safe and able to stay in their homes wherever possible.
We know strong communities grow when people feel supported and work together. That’s why we focus on stepping in early, offering support where it’s needed, and working alongside customers to find positive ways forward.
