We've been ranked 8th largest home builder in the country

Today Inside Housing published its annual 50 Biggest Builders survey which ranks the development outputs of every housing association. It’s really positive for us again this year. Our new build development programme is the eighth largest in the country, delivering on our plans and promises made through the creation of VIVID!

This survey is based on our delivery during 2019/20 where we delivered 1,372 more homes, a 37% increase on 2018/19.  League tables may not tell the whole story of a season, but everything that makes us VIVID has contributed to this success.  Each of the other organisations in the top 10 are larger than us, and we’re seventh in terms of our development completions as a % of stock owned.

Inside Housing also report on the biggest development pipelines and we’re currently in 12th place. This is based on our contracted programme that we have committed to progressing and totals a further 5,680 in the next five years. Interestingly many large home builders were unable to provide pipeline figures this year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. But, we’ve the confidence in our forward delivery thanks to our continued financial strength and strategic partnerships.

Whilst building at scale is important to help address the housing shortage, our development programme focuses on building the right homes, in the right places where they’re needed the most. So, I’m pleased that our social rent delivery has continued to increase (11th largest nationally) and we’ve also made the top 10 list of housing associations building the most low-cost homeownership homes for our shared ownership delivery.

We’ve also been placed in the top 10 lists for most market sale and for-sale homes! This is important because we reinvest the profits into building more homes and maintaining our existing ones.

Our work over the last year has been fantastic and it’s great to see everyone’s dedication being recognised industry wide.
