We're joining forces with Home Group and Radian Group to support for one of Portsmouth’s most deprived areas at a free half-term community event. 

Our Community Fair is being held at the Charles Dickens Community Centre this Friday, 21 February. Alongside fun activities for families, housing association staff and other support organisations will be offering advice and information on a wide range of services.

Portsmouth’s Charles Dickens ward is one of the most deprived areas in the City, with high levels of reported street crime including fly-tipping.  VIVID has around 350 social and affordable homes in the immediate area.

Our Community Development and Digital Officer, Janice Waterman, said: “We’ve come together as social housing providers sharing a strong relationship with the community and many of the residents of Charles Dickens ward.

“We’re starting a new, joined-up conversation to engage with the community and other important service providers, to acknowledge challenges and offer solutions together.”

Support teams from the three housing associations will be on hand at the event to discuss the range of services they offer their customers, from money and benefits advice to mental health and employment support and responding to anti-social behaviour. They are being joined by more than 30 support services and agencies including Portsmouth and Southern Water, Age UK, and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The event takes place on Friday 21 February between 2pm and 5pm and is open to all Portsmouth residents.
