To unblock your sink, make sure there’s some water in the sink and put a sponge over the overflow hole. Then use up and down motions with the plunger.
If it unblocks, you’ll know because the water will go down the sink.
If this doesn’t work, you’ll need to take the u-bend apart underneath the sink. Use gloves to do this and put a bucket under the u-bend, as water will come out. Twist to undo these two nuts and tip any excess water out. You may need to unblock the U-bend.
Once it’s cleared you’ll need to reattach it. Make sure the rubber seals are still on the U-bend, otherwise it will leak. If they’re damaged, you can buy replacements from your local hardware store.
Put the u-bend back in position and retighten the nuts and then run the tap to ensure the blockage has been cleared.
