We want our customers and the communities in which they live to be safe and secure. We’re working in partnership with a range of organisations to help tackle anti-social behaviour and criminal activity in our areas.
Take a look at some of the projects we’re working with through VIVID Plus and our progress in this area:
Fighting Chance
Fighting Chance is a proactive intervention programme designed to support young people, particularly those at risk of criminal exploitation, social exclusion, or low aspiration, through structured sport, mentorship, and life-skills development. Delivered in partnership with local authorities, community groups, and social impact organisations, the programme builds confidence, discipline, and resilience, helping participants make positive choices. With growing concerns around knife crime and youth violence across Hampshire (including Farnborough, Portsmouth, and Eastleigh), the project responds directly to community safety concerns and supports a wider place-based approach to prevention and early intervention.
Power Tools & Pearls: DIY Skills for Confident Living
This empowering initiative offers our female customers the skills, confidence, and tools to take control of minor home maintenance. Through practical DIY workshops and access to a community tool-lending library, the project tackles gender inequality in home repairs, builds confidence, and encourages pride in place. Starting in Portsmouth, it will run for 12–18 months before expanding into Havant, Emsworth, and West, responding to growing demand. The model also promotes safety, community connection, and independence - delivering well beyond traditional training offers.
The Garden Guardian
The Garden Guardian is a new community-rooted social enterprise developed through insight gathered from estate walkabouts and customer roadshows. Funded initially through Estate Enhancement Project funding, it will provide assisted gardening services to residents unable to manage their outdoor spaces, while offering local training and work experience placements to those facing barriers to employment. The aim is to create cleaner, safer, and more connected communities one garden at a time!
VIVID Investment Fund
The VIVID Investment Fund builds upon the strong foundation set by the Community Cohesion Fund, expanding its reach across our portfolio. It empowers community and resident-led initiatives to combat social isolation, strengthen belonging, and create safer, thriving neighbourhoods for all. Unlike traditional models, the Fund combines streamlined local access with robust evaluation, fostering inclusive growth and meaningful customer involvement.
It reflects our commitment to investing in local strengths, ensuring that both VIVID and non-VIVID residents can actively shape their communities and lives. By scaling the model, the Fund acts as both a catalyst for grassroots action and a structured framework to ensure social value, safety, and inclusion are realised across the areas where we work.
We invest in tenancy sustainment services, to provide our customers with tailored, individual support and tackle community led priorities, through supporting place shaping projects and initiatives, to help people feel proud of where they live.
