Moving into a new build home made easy

To help make settling into your newly built home easier we’ve made 3 new videos that’ll guide you through some important information. You can check them out on the 'my new-build home' page.

Moving into a brand-new home can be exciting and daunting at the same time. So, our useful videos cover:

  • Mechanical and electrical items in your new home
  • Drying out your new home
  • Defects in your new home

For example, did you know:

  • Cracks in the walls are common as a new home dries out. They’re not a defect unless larger than the width of a pound coin.
  • Building regulations mean the hot water temperature in your home is limited to 48 degrees.
  • We’ll carry out a final inspection of your home at the end of the 12-month defect period.

And don’t forget we have lots of other DIY advice on our helpful videos page to save you time by helping you complete basic repairs around your home, from fixing a broken toilet seat to what to do if your think you smell gas. You can find these here.
