VIVID is expanding its apprenticeship programme, creating ‘home grown’ talent to help the organisation become even stronger in its support for its customers and communities.
In the last month alone VIVID has welcomed 6 new apprentices, 3 joining straight from college and 3 transitioning from other industries. These new recruits have joined VIVID’s programmes in electrical, HR, planning, customer experience and governance.
The largest provider of affordable homes in the south of England increased its programme in the last year by recruiting 32 apprentices. The increase is a result of the housing association’s commitment and drive to becoming a ‘learning organisation’.
VIVID’s apprenticeship scheme focuses on two programme types; one for upskilling and developing current staff, and the other for recruiting local people to learn on the job. The scheme spans across all areas of the business from trades to governance.
Head of People at VIVID Cathryn Gee says, “Apprenticeship programmes provide a fantastic opportunity for those who prefer ‘hands on’ learning to gain a nationally recognised qualification by working alongside experienced professionals and being paid to do so.
“We’re delighted we’ve increased the number of apprentices across our organisation. We know that it’s important to invest in the development of our staff but also of local people who are enthusiastic to learn a trade or profession to help provide brighter futures.”
Ashley Evans, one of the housing association’s new apprentices, is also a VIVID customer. Ashley enrolled in the customer experience apprenticeship programme in October after seeing an advert online.
Ashley says, “I’ve been a customer of VIVID for years and always thought highly of the company. Earlier this year I became unemployed due to a health condition. After I recovered, I decided I wanted to learn a new skill and start a career to better myself, and an apprenticeship scheme seemed like the best way to do this.
“Customer experience was an area I thought I would like to work in so when I came across VIVID’s advert it seemed like the perfect opportunity for me. I was so pleased when I found out I had made it onto the scheme! I love the fact I learn as I work – it’s made starting a new career much easier for me.”
VIVID plans to open more apprentice positions early next year and is encouraging those looking for their next move to register their interest via the website for new job alerts.
