With the festive season upon us, many of us will be thinking about the impact it may have on our finances. The good news is there’s lots of ways we can help keep costs down and stay within our budgets to help us focus on spending quality time with our loved ones.
We've collated some helpful money-saving tips and advice to consider this year…
Agree a budget and stick to it
Total up your outgoings and everyday bills, then make a budget and a plan of what you’d like to purchase and stick to it. It’s important to be realistic when looking at what you’re able to give this year and making a budget helps you stay accountable.
Shop around for the best deals
There’s bargains and deals to be had on different websites and online platforms like Facebook marketplace, Gumtree and Ebay. By reusing and recycling it’s great for the planet too!
Think outside the box when it comes to gifting
Try alternative gifting such as getting crafty at home, producing homemade gifts or arrange to meet up with family and friends you haven’t seen for a while.
Secret Santa
Why not suggest to friends and family to do a secret Santa? Not only does this reduce the number of gifts you have to buy it can also add an extra layer of fun - the trouble is keeping the gift a secret!
Make a list and check it twice
Making a list helps to avoid the temptation to buy ‘special offers’ that often ramp up in the shops and supermarkets at this time of year.
