We raise £20k for those at risk of homelessness

We've helped over 500 young people and families at risk of homelessness after raising £20,000 for Hampshire based charity, Yellow Brick Road Projects.

We appointed Yellow Brick Road Projects as our ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2018/19 as we both work to support the vulnerable and disadvantaged, particularly families and young people that need a place to call home.

Throughout the year we got involved in sponsored dress down days, raffles, sweepstakes, bake sales, quiz nights, football and badminton matches and some staff even jumped off buildings and donated scrap metal. In addition to this, we also donated clothes, toys, food and office furniture to help those supported by the charity.

The money we raised has enabled Yellow Brick Road Projects to support over 500 young people and families in Hampshire including:

  • Increasing the hours of two part-time staff member’s helping the charity to deliver more support to those in need
  • Funding vital childcare whilst parents attend classes on managing finances, employability and general wellbeing
  • Providing a young person with his own bedding, making a vital difference to his overall wellbeing
  • Funding a Christmas party for vulnerable families

Cathryn Gee, Head of People, says: “Yellow Brick Road Projects is a fantastic charity that supports those in need across Hampshire. We’re passionate about providing places people can call home and believe it’s vital for everyone’s wellbeing and life prospects. That’s why supporting Yellow Brick Road Projects was important for us to do.

“We’re so proud of our staff raising £20,000 for the charity. Our team has been working really hard throughout the last year to raise as much money as possible to help those in need.”

Siobhan Down, Chief Executive of Yellow Brick Road Projects says:Yellow Brick Road Projects works with young people and families at risk of homelessness, usually who’ve suffered domestic violence or are in poverty, and helps them through debt concern, teaches them to manage their money and homes, helps them back into employment and provides advice on safe sex, drugs and alcohol abuse.
