There are a range of local community groups supporting people who are self-isolating because of the coronavirus, who can help with things like delivering food, shopping or simply phoning for a chat. We’ve recently announced our support for these groups and will be donating £125,000 to help them continue their great work, and £125,000 to local food banks across our operating area. We’ve produced a helpful directory of groups who are recognised by Community and Voluntary Services (CVS), a local authority or organisations such as Good Neighbours. These groups usually have policies and procedures which keep customers and volunteers safe. If you can’t find what you are looking for, try contacting your local CVS directly as they should be able to signpost you to organisations that might help.
Many local communities are also setting up their own groups using social media such as Facebook or Next Door. While the intentions may be good, they may not have the appropriate policies and procedures in place to keep you and volunteers safe.
